After serving as the Acting Dean for a few months, Dr Bowatte was unanimously elected by the staff of Faculty of Medicine to serve for the next three years in the administrative office of their faculty.
Dr Bowatte is a Consultant Physician in Internal Medicine and has a twenty years’ service in the Department of Health. He has obtained his primary degree of MBBS from University of Peradeniya and has completed postgraduate training with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Post Graduate Institute of Medicine in University of Colombo. He has overseas postgraduate training in John Radcliffe Hospital of Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. He holds memberships in Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom and American College of Physicians. He is a council member of Sri Lankan College of Internal Medicine.
